Interfaith Book Project

This project was a unique collaboration between Kids' Own, Donegal County Library Service and Libraries NI, and brought together young people from both sides of the border to explore the idea of 'faith' and the value and role that spirituality plays in our lives.

The young people, from Carndonagh in Donegal and Strathfoyle in Co. Derry interviewed three spiritual leaders over a period of weeks - Father Bill McLoughlin, Reverend Gilbert Young and Lobsang Wangchuck, Buddhist Monk. They then worked with printmaker Pete Williams from Print Market Project, Cardiff, and Writer Mary Branley to formulate their responses to the interviews through art work and writing, and express their own feelings about faith and what has meaning to them in their lives.

Each young person made a unique image which they transferred to a wood block, and hand carved for printing. Pete Williams took the wood cuts back to his studio in cardiff where he hand printed a series of 26 limited edition prints to be included in the unique publication The Peace Generation.

The limited edition prints and writing were brought together and hand bound by Duffy Bookbinders in Dublin, to create an exceptionally unique limited edition print publication, called The Peace Generation, which will was launched in Buncrana Library on Saturday 3rd November (2-4pm).

We would like to say a special thank you to Print Market Project for their support and collaboration on this unique project.
