Kids' Own is partnering with Helium, Children's Arts & Health, as a consultant on the second phase of the Puppet Portal Project.
An initiative of Helium, the Puppet Portal Project is an Arts and Technology Project engaging professional artists to facilitate a performing arts exchange between five children's wards around Ireland. The project aims to help counter the isolation that children can feel when they are hospitalised by connecting them to a wider community in a shared creative conversation. It aims to facilitate children in accessing their own creativity and using this resource to help them better cope with being in hospital.
Kids' Own's expertise in managing collaborative projects between artists and children enabled us to contribute positively to the development of the Puppet Portal Project. Our collaboration in the project management provides a structure for communication and creative exchange among the artists and hospital staff, which is focused on achieving best practice.
The artists have been keeping a regular blog on Practice.ie.
Helium and Kids’ Own would like to gratefully acknowledge the in-kind support of The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children, who provided a venue for this event.
